Birds of Paradise

Came across this painting today and was pleasantly surprised. I've painted it a couple of years ago but was not satisfied with it for some reason. Looking at it now, I can't remember what it was that I didn't like. It's quite pretty, isn't it? :-)

Do you ever fall in or out of love with your own work?

Rrrraaaaa!!!....

I was going through my drawings and came across this fearful character. Completely forgot about him! I've painted this almost a year ago while waiting for my little boy to finally pop out. I was getting increasingly bored staying at home, so I thought I'd paint but I didn't want to start anything complicated in case I got interrupted :) Then of course when my babba did pop out, I forgot all about this sheepie. Looking at him now brings back the memories of that time. Bursting at the seams, waiting... then biggest, most overwhelming joy of my life :)

Tillie's Stories

Tillie adores reading and can't understand her little brother Bo who is completely indifferent to books. She tries reading her favorite French fairy tales to him but some bunnies are just not into books .

Acrylics on canvas textured paper.

Yoshimasa Tsuchiya

These lovely delicate creatures by Japanese sculptor Yoshimasa Tsuchiya look as if they would fit snuggly in your hand... Take a look at how they are made making  I was really surprised to see that they're so big in real life. Amazing.

Alison Jay

Twice a week I take my son to the children's library where we socialize with Mummies and babies from our area, sing nursery rhymes and read books. Riley loves pottering around big stuffed animals and wooden toys and I always take some time to look through boxes of books. Today I found a gem of a book. The kind I know both Riley and I would enjoy. It's called "If Kisses Were Colors" and it's illustrated by Alison Jay. What a talent! I can't believe I haven't heard of her before. Well, I've ordered the book already and will try to take a few pictures of it when it arrives. Meanwhile, here's a few illustrations by Alison. Aren't they marvelous?

Angela Matteson

These gorgeous illustrations are painted on wood and I really love the fact that you can see the texture and patterns of wood. It adds such charm, doesn't it?
